This five-story residential building featured the ConXtech structural steel space frame system. The three dimensional moment frame utilizes proprietary connections to enable speedy erection, making it an attractive solution over conventional building frame systems.
To further compliment the time and costs savings gained by this design, Holmes Fire demonstrated that the fire protection requirements of the California Building Code where met by the inherent fire performance of the system, without the need for additional passive fire protection. The analysis assessed the theoretical performance of the concrete filled steel columns under standardized fire conditions, in accordance with methodology published by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE).
Performance based- fire-engineering added significant value to this project, as well as bearing substantial project cost savings.
