Constructed circa 1920, Hotel Bondi comprises four storeys and a clock tower and is identified as a building of significance by the National Trust of Australia and the Royal Institute of Architects. The hotel operates a bar and entertainment venue on Ground Floor, with three levels of short term accommodation above.
Holmes Fire prepared a holistic Fire Safety Upgrade Strategy for the building to improve the building’s fire safety whilst maintaining architecturally significant features. The upgrade strategy developed by Holmes Fire enabled the works to be undertaken in stages without compromising the safety for occupants in the occupied portions of the building. Additionally, the egress design rationalised the egress pathways, sharing these with the adjacent property, thereby providing extremely efficient use of the site.
