SFPE has a long-standing tradition of recognizing individuals and organizations for their outstanding achievements in support of the fire protection engineering profession. The newest member of the San Francisco Team, Geza, has been given significant recognition from the SFPE by being awarded the D. Peter Lund Award for 2017. The awards recognises significant contributions to the advancement of the professional recognition of the fire protection engineer. This award is named in honour of D. Peter Lund, CAE, the first executive director of the Society.
Geza was awarded the prize based on his passion in mentoring graduate engineers. He enjoys showing them all the interesting and exciting aspects of the profession and how contributions from fire protection engineers can fit into most other engineering disciplines. To advance the fire protection engineering profession, he regularly brings his colleagues to the local SFPE Chapter meetings. He has also been an active member of the SFPE Subcommittee on PE Exam Development for many years; ensuring that an engineering license examination is sustained within the standards established by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying.
